Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stated that the company might complete the trial production of the next-generation AI6 chip by December, marking a critical phase in their self-developed AI chip efforts.
Musk mentioned that if the development proceeds smoothly and AI tools accelerate, the AI6 chip design is expected to be finalized and submitted for manufacturing by the end of the year.
Tesla had previously reached an approximately $16.5 billion agreement with Samsung Electronics to handle AI chip production. This chip is expected to be used in autonomous driving systems and humanoid robots.
Samsung stated that the related chips may be based on advanced 2-nanometer technology and plans to achieve mass production in the second half of 2027.
